Job Description
We're working with a well-established manufacturing client in East Lothian to find an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. This is a hands-on role for a fully qualified fitter with a strong mechanical background, proven fault-finding ability and a proactive approach to maintenance in a high-output environment, working independently across shifts within a safety-focused, collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Respond to equipment breakdowns promptly to minimise downtime
- Diagnose mechanical faults and replace defective components
- Record maintenance activities using internal IT systems
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and scheduled overhauls
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and team meetings
- Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures and work permits
- Collaborate across departments to support business objectives
- Get involved in special engineering projects as needed
Requirements
- Fully qualified mechanical fitter with relevant certification
- Experience in a heavy mechanical or industrial environment
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capabilities
- Meticulous attention to detail and quality focus
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Proficiency with maintenance IT systems
- Proactive, self-motivated and safety-conscious mindset
